"From the very moment that I could hold a pencil, I started to draw. After a while I also began to use the brush and I have never stopped painting since.
Through the years, I have taught myself all the techniques, from abstract to figurative and combinations of both."

Although Gerard Hendriks was born in 1947, which means he’s not a teen any more, he may well remind those seeing what he has created with paper and colours of a child who loses patience while painting. Hendriks pulls the brush quickly and in a seemingly careless way over the white surface and says, ‘I even presume to be scraping, etching, blobbing and smearing.’ However, the end result does not at all look like a work in tatters. Regarding shape, proportion and character , Hendriks’ creatures are the living image of the animals in the wild.
